Modular Origami - Peacock

After a long gap I am here with my next project. I should say this was a marathon :) This project has been dragging on for more than a month and now finally I have completed it. First I ran out of paper and then I had a difficult time figuring out how to put the head of the peacock. Still not very satisfied with the head I have got.

Here are the pictures of my peacock

And the instructions to do this can be found @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiDLRbdE7tc

I almost forgot the number of sheets / modules i used for this... it just seemed like a never ending project. Happy to have completed it atlast :)

Modular Origami - Swan

This is my second modular project. The swan turned out to be too good. Initially I made a bigger one and then modified it to make a smaller one. The bigger one was difficult to handle and was coming apart easily. The smaller one is more stable :)

Below is the bigger version swan carrying some roses

And finally the modular combo. I jus love this :)

And now to how I did it... The bigger swan consumed about 14-15 sheets of paper, which makes it around 480 modules... The tricky part would be getting the neck curve right :) it comes off easily. The solution I found was to have the lower half of the neck modules in one direction and the upper half in the opposite direction. You can notice this difference between the bigger swan and smaller one.

Modular Origami - Flower Basket

This is modular flower basket. Modular as it is made from small units which are joined together. The below basket consumed about 12-13 sheets of paper. Each sheet gives 32 modules... so you can say this has around 400 modules!

This is the top view of the basket, gives a clear picture of the pattern I have tried to create using different colors.

The final basket fitted with handles. It stands around 3-4 inches tall (without including the handle)

And finally i found a proper place to keep my roses and a basket big enough for all of them :)

Roses and more roses!

This is called Kawasaki Rose... I have no idea why its called Kawasaki though. This is one which I have tried multiple times and given up an equal number of times... But then once you get it right, its quiet simple... and thats how it sounds to me now... have made so many roses now that I think I will not forget the steps anymore... Aren't they cute :)

Kusudama flower

Origami kusudama.... Kusudama is a Japanese word meaning medicinal ball. Came across the instructions at the below link while jus browsing through wikihow...

Its pretty simple to make the modules, but then getting them together to make the final flower might be tricky.. a little patience will do the trick :)

My first try at origami

This was my first origami project... had enough leisure time and i ended up doing this...

I picked up the instructions for the flowers from the below link

Origami Miniature

This is my first try with miniature origami... the paper i used was probably 2cm by 2cm square... Have kept a coin near by to give a better size comparison on the photo
